For more than thirty years, Katrina Ellis has been the practitioner women come to when they've already tried everything else.
The ones who've had every test run, seen the specialists, changed their diet, done the research and still been told their results are normal. The ones who know something is wrong, even when the numbers say otherwise.
Wholistic House exists because that gap is real. Between what conventional medicine measures and what a woman actually feels, there is a lot of territory that rarely gets addressed. That's where we work.
We combine clinical naturopathic practice with the kind of root cause thinking most practitioners don't have time for. Not to replace your medical team but to go further than they can.
KATRINA'S STORY
I grew up in Kirra, on the Gold Coast surrounded by ocean, by nature, and by a pull toward something I couldn't quite name yet. It took years of clinical practice around the world before I understood what that pull was: a deep belief that the body is trying to tell us something. Our job is to learn how to listen.
My career took me far, including to Chiva-Som in Thailand, one of the world's most respected wellness retreats, where I consulted for the Deputy Prime Minister and refined my approach working alongside practitioners from every discipline imaginable. I was hungry for knowledge. I still am.
Then, unexpectedly, I became the patient.
While working abroad, I was exposed to a toxic agent. My body changed rapidly. After misdiagnoses across several countries, I eventually advocated for myself and had the mass removed. The result: a malignant form of ovarian cancer, diagnosed at 27, with a poor long-term prognosis.
I sat with that news. And then I made a decision.
Drawing on everything I had learned, natural medicine, nutrition, the healing capacity of the mind — I chose a different path. Less than a year later, I was cancer free. That experience became my first book, *Shattering the Cancer Myth*.
What it gave me, more than anything, was an understanding of what it means to navigate a health system that doesn't always have answers, and what it takes to advocate for yourself when it doesn't.
In the decades since, I have consulted with tens of thousands of people from every background and every corner of the world. I have written books, lectured, formulated supplements, and built a clinic I'm genuinely proud of. And I have remained, above everything else, a clinician first.
When I'm not in clinic, I'm creating, new formulations, new recipes, new ways to make this knowledge accessible. I also get to say that against every odd, I went on to conceive and raise two beautiful children. I do not take that lightly.

How We Work
Wholistic House is based at Kirra on the Gold Coast, a beachfront clinic that has been operating for nearly two decades. What began as one naturopath's vision has grown into a full integrative practice, but the approach has never changed.
We treat the whole picture. That means understanding your physiology, your history, your environment, and what your results are actually telling you, not just whether they fall within a reference range.
Our clinic draws on a wide range of diagnostic tools: heavy metal and mineral testing, bioenergetics, iridology, darkfield microscopy, and close relationships with leading pathology laboratories. We work with what the science shows, and we ask the questions that go further than a standard blood panel.
Our supplement range was developed from clinical necessity, formulations we couldn't find anywhere else, so we made them ourselves. Every product is Australian made, handcrafted in the Byron Hinterland, and built around the same principles that guide our clinical practice: purity, potency, and purpose.
We also maintain one of the largest apothecaries in Australia, offering premium naturopathic formulations and herbal extracts, all selected with the same rigour we apply in the clinic.
This is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It never has been.

We take our environmental responsibility seriously. From the materials we use to the suppliers we choose, we try to leave as light a footprint as possible while making products that are genuinely effective.
Wherever we can, we support local farmers and small Australian businesses. That isn't a marketing position. It's just how we operate.
Our Location
Wholistic House is located directly opposite the stunning ocean in the coastal town of Kirra. A gorgeous little reading nook is found at the front door so you can have a cup of herbal tea, alkaline water or bone broth while you gaze at the serenity of the Pacific Ocean, and hopefully catch a glimpse of a whale while you wait.
